    New Orleans

New Orleans is like no other city in North America. Although a large city, New Orleans does feel quite small and intimate to visitors. There is a warm, friendly and relaxed ambience on the streets and is easy to see why New Orleans has a reputation as being a city that likes to have fun.

The French Quarter is home to Bourbon Street, which defines the city's rowdy character. Bourbon Street is where you can find raucous nightlife and other nocturnal entertainments! Jackson Square is another exciting place to stop-by with its street musicians, artists and fortunetellers. Some of the best museums in New Orleans can be found in the French Quarter, including the Mardi Gras Museum, the Cabildo and the Jazz Exhibit.

The majestic Mississippi River is difficult to miss and is an extraordinary sight to behold. You can ride the ferry across the River but by far the best way to travel on the Mississippi is to take a cruise on a Paddleboat. Or, simply laze in the sunshine on the banks of the River and watch the world go by. Other things to try in New Orleans include riding one of the historic streetcars, sample New Orleans' oysters, take a voodoo tour or brave out a swamp tour!

For most of the year, New Orleans is hot, wet and sticky so if you are thinking of visiting, pack lots of cool clothes. At other times of the year, it's just wet. Between February and April, the climate is as comfortable as it will get and this is also when the renowned Mardi Gras festival takes place.
